Media Guidelines for the Wellcome Sanger Institute
Posted on September 25, 2020
The Wellcome Sanger Institute is a world leading genomics research centre. They undertake large-scale research that forms the foundations of knowledge in biology and medicine and their findings are used to improve health and to understand life on Earth.
We successfully pitched and were chosen to create three documents for the Institute – a media training leaflet, a social media guidelines leaflet, and a language guidelines brochure.
Both the media training leaflet and social media guidelines leaflet used a more bespoke square 6-page format, with information, guidance and helpful tips for staff on dealing with the media/ press and also how to correctly represent Genome Research Limited online.
The language guidelines brochure was a 20pp document set to A4 landscape, which aided digital use as well as print. The brochure aimed to create a clear and consistent way of writing and using language, making it easier to get the Institute’s messages across to a wider audience.
The design of all documents incorporated black and white photography. A bright colour palette (including the use of a gradient treatment) was used to contrast this, something that had to work alongside the suite of logos/brands we were working with. With iconography used throughout to break up sections and add more visual interest for the reader too.
“D&A were a pleasure to work with and did a great job. They delivered what we wanted, on time and to a high standard.”
